Turkey Point is located 150KM southwest of Toronto, along the coast of Lake Erie, and about 2 hours and a half car ride.  With its laidback sweeping farmlands dotted along the Norfolk County highway, such a pleasant sight to see!  One of the landscapes we had passed by on the way to Turkey Point.  Such gorgeous sweeping views (minus the cable of course!). We arrived about 1:00 o’ clock in the afternoon and parking was almost full, although it was free (to promote Turkey Point as the parking warden had said).   The beach was packed, and people were observing physical distancing which was good.  The best time to go is early in the morning, so you can stake your claim to a good spot on the beach.  But make sure to bring umbrella, as it can get hot in the middle of the day, especially if shaded areas with trees are already taken.  The water was nice and cool—super refreshing!  Sand was fine and soft.  Be careful when walking, as there are exposed...

We went to Awenda Provincial Park on Canada Day, July 1st.  It is about two hours drive north of Toronto, thru HWY 400, north of Barrie.  We are always in search of beautiful beaches that qualifies for our road trip rules (LOL):  lush, green meadows, clean & clear water, and not crowded; but people are naturally drawn to water, so let's beat the last one. Since it was Canada Day yesterday, there were not much cars on the road, which was a bonus because you will appreciate the view even more.    In spite of the scenic route, we found a fox (roadkill), and remnants of a blue bumper on the side of the road.  It was too gruesome, so I'll spare you guys the bloody details.  It's always heartbreaking to see wild animals get killed on the road.  And at the same time, it is tempting to drive way over the limit in the county, since it is mostly farmland, and speeders can get away without getting a ticket.  But this roadkill is one of the main reas...

Sandbanks Provincial Park has one of the finest beach in Ontario.  This beautiful beach is located just about two and a half hours car ride from Toronto.  West Lake beach (day use) is open to general public from mid-May to early November all year-round. You'll see the distinction of the whole road trip from city to rural areas.  From dense residential areas, to tall buildings, to heavy traffic, to the county: lush greenery is always a welcome change to see!  The trek in highway 401 a.k.a. McDonald Cartier Freeway is a breeze especially with the green scenic views up ahead, and left & right.  That is if you appreciate nature, not the long and boring car ride!
