SANDBANKS PROVINCIAL PARK

Sandbanks Provincial Park has one of the finest beach in Ontario.  This beautiful beach is located just about two and a half hours car ride from Toronto.  West Lake beach (day use) is open to general public from mid-May to early November all year-round.

You'll see the distinction of the whole road trip from city to rural areas.  From dense residential areas, to tall buildings, to heavy traffic, to the county: lush greenery is always a welcome change to see!

The trek in highway 401 a.k.a. McDonald Cartier Freeway is a breeze especially with the green scenic views up ahead, and left & right.  That is if you appreciate nature, not the long and boring car ride!
Would love to run up in the meadows!

PIT STOP: George's Fish & Chips

We ordered hotdogs, fish n' chips and bacon burger to take to the beach. YUM!
The guy from the food truck ask how many people we were.  And had a funny, surprised look when I said just two.  Of course, we'll eat the whole thing, because we're hungry folks.
All. The. Time.

We were almost near the park but chose to go back for another 9 miles (or 20-minute car ride) to fill the tank up.  We really wanted to catch the sunset but fuelling up is much more important at this point.  Good thing, that the ipad for GPS have had about 30% battery to lead us to the nearest gas station, and 9 miles was the closest.
We were so worried, and I  have to admit, it was a bit stressful!

This red barn view on the way back after fuelling up.

Finally, almost there!

Near the entrance to the park.

Day use fee is CAD $21.00
Camping has different fee, of course.

Before reaching the beach itself, you have to climb the dunes, several steps up.  I thought mother nature is such a wonderful engineer. Duh!

WEST LAKE
FINE POWDER!

This gorgeous sunset we were chasing after is all worth it!

Feeling fortunate to have caught a glimpse of the sunset, and just be still and listen to lapping waves.  And food, of course!

On the way home..
We spotted two separate deer along the side road, I guess they were just waiting for our car to pass.  Good thing they were good residents, not jaywalking, LOL( I heard it could get ugly when they leap over your car!)

Deer #1

Deer #2

We got lost at some point to an area where it was darker than this.  No lights, not single person, no houses can be seen from afar.  It was kinda creepy, and was thinking of some stranger might be somewhere wielding a chainsaw, just a figment of my imagination! That is why I will never go camping in my life. LOL.

So we made it back to the city just after 12AM, safe sound!

I upload my roadtrips to YT channel, and Sandbanks will be up soon.  Meanwhile you can click  this YouTube to see more of my roadtrips.
